A morning

What your child's morning looks like

Nine to noon, the same shape every day, because little ones like to know what is next. Two teachers for eight children, and the yard in every weather.

9:00

Arrive and play

A wave at the door, shoes off, and straight to the blocks or the book corner. Nobody is rushed in; a slow start is a good start.

Drop-off any time before 9:15
10:00

Snack and a story

Fruit and crackers at the low table, then one story read slowly, with the pictures turned round. Allergies are on the wall and in our heads.

You pack the water bottle; we have the snack
10:30

The project

Paint, glue, a bug jar, a number game. One thing, done properly, and it comes home in the bag on Friday.

Aprons on; the mess is ours
11:00

Outside, then home

The yard in every weather but lightning: the oak, the sandbox, the mud kitchen. Songs at 11:45 and pick-up at noon with a one-line note about the morning.

Questions

The questions you would ask at the door

01 Does my child have to be toilet trained?

No. Diapers and pull-ups are fine for the preschool mornings until your child is ready, and we follow your lead on training. Pack a change of clothes in a labelled bag every day regardless; paint and puddles find everyone.

02 What happens if I am late for pick-up?

We stay with your child, always. After a fifteen-minute grace there is a $1-a-minute late fee, which we waive when traffic or weather is the reason; a call ahead helps.

03 Who are the teachers?

Two registered early childhood educators run the mornings, and the tutoring is done by the same person each week so the child is not starting over. You meet them at the visit, and they are the ones who answer the phone.

04 Can I visit before I decide?

Please do. Half an hour, bring your child, sit in the corner. Pick a morning or an afternoon and we call to confirm. There is nothing to sign at the visit.

05 Is any of this real?

No. Little Acorns Learning is a fictional centre built as a concept demo by The Nerd Next Door. The teachers, the fees, the spots and the answers in the box above were invented for it, and nothing on this page books or sends.
