A house purchase is a sequence of steps, and most of them happen out of your sight. The tape is the alternative: every step in order, with the calendar running, the fee climbing toward the number you were quoted, and the four steps that are yours marked in brass.
solid: our work
hatched: a meeting with you
striped: waiting on a lender, a registry or the other side
brass: yours to do, and the closing
Each step carries how long it takes, its share of the flat fee, any disbursement paid out on your behalf, and what is now on the file. Our work is quick and the waiting is long; reading a matter is mostly seeing where the calendar goes.
Scrub the tape with a click or a drag, step with the arrow keys, play with space, and change speed with 1, 2 and 3. This is a sample file for a fictional office; your own matter would be laid out the same way.
